Cleanliness, Hygiene and Saftey

Proper tattoo aftercare is essential to ensure that your tattoo heals properly and looks its best. After getting a tattoo, it is important to follow your tattoo artist’s aftercare instructions carefully. This typically includes keeping the tattoo clean and moisturized, protecting it from the sun, and avoiding activities that could irritate or damage the tattoo.

To clean your tattoo, gently wash it with lukewarm water and a mild, unscented soap. Pat the tattoo dry with a clean, soft towel, and be sure to avoid rubbing or scrubbing the tattoo. After washing, apply a thin layer of a non-petroleum based cream such as Cocoa Butter to keep the tattoo moisturized. Avoid using products that contain alcohol, petroleum or fragrances, as these can irritate the tattoo and slow down the healing process.

It is also important to protect your tattoo from the sun while it is healing. Wear loose, protective clothing and apply sunscreen to the tattoo whenever you are going to be outside for an extended period of time. Avoid soaking the tattoo in water, such as the bath, in a pool or hot tub, until it is fully healed. Avoid picking or scratching at the tattoo, as this can cause damage and potentially lead to infection.
